Amphitrite

My cousin and I have been planning to do a photoshoot since last year but we just found time this summer. I'm just new to using a DSLR (bought my first in 2012) so I really have a lot to learn even though I'm already a photography enthusiast since highschool. I am really thankful that Photography was introduced to us in Highschool as part of Computer class. My enthusiasm in this genre have been rooted to that date. Currently, I am working on my post-processing skill and long way to go. I usually read tips from various blogs to improve my skill. Well, thanks to the internet for this practicality!

When I was using my point-and-shoot Sony digicam before, I didn't see the importance of  post-processing. All I did was just focus on the composition of my frames, practice on basic photography techniques--Macro and Rule of Thirds-- to name a few, set my camera to a Program mode, adjust the white balance to Cloudy, click the shutter and have it on prints right after. What I didn't know was that post-processing is as important as taking photos because it gives a finishing look on the picture; it corrects what you have missed out and gives a feel of what you want others to see in your picture. I thought I already knew a lot about it until my first encounter with my DSLR. A few tries with it, I familiarized myself with its features and the ISO, shutter speed and focal length techniques. I wasn't satisfied with a couple of portrait shots I did so I decided to take myself a step higher and that's learning the finishing stage. I researched for photo editing software and found myself getting comfortable with Lightroom 3. I prefer it over Adobe Photoshop, not that it is better than the latter (I am not an authority to make comparisons either), but because I find it easier to use. I also downloaded free Lightroom presets which I sometimes use if I wanted a dreamy output like these photos below.

Here's a look on our photoshoot. I named the theme Amphitrite. If you're a Greek Mythology fan, you probably know her character. Amphitrite is the sea-goddess and wife of Poseidon.
